Five Figure Fanwork Exchange 2021 Letter

AO3 Username: StopTalkingAtMe

Welcome to my letter, Mystery Creator. Let me start by saying I’m open to a LOT of different things. I’m also open to unrequested crossovers, so as long as you have good reason to believe I’m into a fandom, then go for it. Some of the sections here may be longer than others but please don’t read anything into that – I’d be thrilled to receive a fic or a comic for any one of the fandoms or ships I’ve requested. All requests are for fic and comics, in both the 1 10,000 word gift and 2 5000 word gifts (and the equivalent for comics). .

General Art Likes

In terms of artwork I'm open to a lot of different things. I'd love to see something which captures the atmosphere of canon, whether that be beautiful scenery, or something grim and gritty. All the fandoms I’m requesting for this exchange are ones where I love the visuals of the setting and the world. I love contrast and lots of rich intricate detail, whether in colour, or intricate detailed monochrome line art but I also love softer, more muted colours if that's your style. I also quite like diptychs and triptychs, as well as the use of stylised borders which incorporate themes and objects from canon, such as clockwork, books, or vines. Artist-wise, I'm particularly fond of art nouveau, but seriously, anything.

DNWs

  • A/B/O
  • Noncon (Extremely dubious dubcon is fine if prompted)
  • Unrequested one-sided dubcon (mutual dubcon of the 'something made us do it' kind is ALWAYS okay)
  • Dubcon involving unaroused characters
  • Incest
  • Bestiality (monsters don't count here)
  • Scat and waterplay
  • Formalised D/s dynamics (bondage and other forms of restraint are OK)
  • Underage (normally <18, but for Ceolbert, <16)
  • Het anal sex
  • Breathplay (antagonistic choking is fine)
  • Fisting
  • Sexualised lactation
  • Any variation of the word 'come' in a sexual context spelled as 'cum' (please use 'come', 'came', 'precome' etc)
  • Infidelity (Applies to Doctor Who only)

Blake’s 7

Requested Ships: Servalan/Travis
Roj Blake/Travis
Requested Mediums: Fic and Art

Note on my DNWs: Brief mentions and references to the canonical use of false memories of child abuse are fine here. Dubcon is fine for the Travis/Servalan and Travis/Blake ships.

It’s rare that I fall so completely and utterly head-over-heels in love with a show, but it’s happened with Blake’s 7, to the point where frankly I’m a little taken aback. I loved it right from the very first episode, which was so grimly dystopian (the bureaucracy, the people in charge running ‘feasibility studies’ when the possibility being examined is the act of planting false memories of abuse in the minds of children, I mean… fuck. Fuck.) It’s so utterly bleak and awful, but then it’s balanced out by the sheer fun of the sets and the storylines.

I’ll be up for anything that examines the dystopian elements of the world and the Federation, angst, backstory, canon divergent AUs set during, pre- and post-canon, hurt/comfort, whump and torture, trust issues, case fic of the planet-of-the-week sort or the murder mystery sort, clothes porn, and… look, I’ll take basically anything for this show.

Servalan/Travis

These two. Oh god, where do I even start. I was going to say they were the two most evil people in the Federation, but this is the Federation that plants false memories of abuse in the minds of children, so… idek. I loved the brief flash of a conscience Travis shows in Deliverance and the way she tramples on it and you can see him reassessing his opinion of her right there and then, and the way the whole of his arc in the second series is a constant push and pull between them, going from working together to antagonistic to whatever the hell that was in Gambit… I mean, she had him at her mercy on a sex swing. A literal sex swing. And all the time they were low-key threatening each other they were holding hands. I was already shipping them pretty damn hard, and watching that felt like a fever dream. I’m still not entirely convinced I didn’t hallucinate it. :D

Go with either Travis, or bridge the gap between the two. I loved Travis I, but Travis II won me round very quickly indeed. I liked his quieter, more sinister manner (and his scruffier appearance towards the latter half of the season was scorching hot, so, uh, any description of that wouldn’t go amiss. Look, the slipping of his military standards of appearance is thematically relevant character development, okay?). I’d be especially here for anything that explores reasons for the changes in his behaviour (such as the moment in Weapon where he goes all broken and mentions his visits to the retraining therapists) and his gradual deterioration over the course of season 2. An AU with Travis II in the first season or Travis I in the second would be interesting too – their speech patterns, manner and appearance are very different, and it’d be interesting seeing how his story arc in the second season would work with Travis I. And Servalan, how utterly ruthless and amoral she is, the way she tries to manipulate everybody, her poise, her clothes, the way she toys with him, and finds a way, despite his break from the Federation as a result of her scheming, to get him working for her again. She’s so utterly ruthless and evil and fantastic to watch. I especially love seeing her when she’s out of her comfort zone, but managing to regain her composure. I’m also open to post season 2 set fics where it’s not Travis himself but a clone she’s had made for reasons of her own.

I’m always here for character studies and I’d love to see something that dives deep into their characters and motivations (and maybe continues what the show started and humanises them a little, while not letting them off the hook for the atrocities they’ve committed), but I’m also up for pure smut too. Man, I am so, so here for fucked-up loyalty kink between them. And I don’t know if loyalty kink is the right word for their relationship, considering everything that happens in canon, but I still can’t help but see him as desperately wanting to be ride-or-die for her, even after everything she’s done to him and knowing she’ll fuck him over at the first opportunity, but if he can just prove himself one more time maybe she’ll give him the chance...

Optional Prompts

  • Fill in some of the missing moments from his arc, either from the first or second season. In the first season, he’s in disgrace after the events of Duel. His arc in the second season is a rollercoaster ride. After Hostage it’s pretty clear he’s in regularish contact with Servalan, so there are some opportunities for missing scenes there. Maybe he comes close to getting captured by the Federation and she manipulates things to get him free and hunting for Blake again.
  • What the hell would pillow talk between the two of them look like?
  • More background to The Keeper, please. I have some headcanons about what was going on with him (he just wanted to rule the universe by her side, another moment between them that makes my shippy heart explode in delight, as does the idea that this ship might have been the pivotal moment that would massively change the course of events of the series going forwards), but I’m curious to see your take on it. If she’d let him, would he have been genuinely loyal to her, or might he still have betrayed her down the line? I think it probably goes without saying that she would have betrayed him.
  • And along those lines the concept of Travis and Servalan ruling the universe side by side is a TERRIFYING one. Give me that AU, please, or else the set-up for it where he delivers Star One to her.
  • An AU where Travis survives Star One. “There's no one as free as a dead man,” Servalan tells him in Hostage. Well, now everyone thinks he’s dead, so he’s got his freedom. What’s he going to do with it? How does he get off Star One? Does he end up working with Servalan again, or watch her from afar, trying to keep his head down?

Roj Blake/Travis

I always love a good enemy ship, and Blake/Travis is a particularly delightful example. Their background, Travis’s overwhelming hatred of Blake, Blake’s repeated failure to kill him… Why does he keep sparing Travis? In Duel he justifies it because the Federation would just send someone else in Travis’s place and at least Blake knows he’s capable of defeating Travis, but it doesn’t ring entirely true. It could just be him being merciful, but personally I have a soft spot for the idea that Blake’s fucked over about his brainwashing (speaking of which, how does Blake’s period of compliance on Earth fit into Travis’s vendetta against him?) and is aware that Travis is probably the person who knows him best and so subconsciously unwilling to kill Travis because of that. Again, go with either Travis here, whenever you choose to set it.

I want so many different things for this pairing, from smut: Travis dubconning Blake (all the way up to extremely dubious consent), or sex pollen, to something more plotty: like the two of them being stuck in a situation where they’re forced to work together. Smut would be fantastic, but they’ve both been fucked over by the Federation and are both ruthless men willing to do terrible things for their beliefs (and I freaking adored the way the last episode drew deliberate parallels between them), so I’d love to see something where they’re forced to warily interact on a level beyond simply trying to kill each other. I’d also be open to Blake’s clone acting as a stand-in for Blake himself. They had to travel together, so what would that have looked like, considering what happened to the first clone? It’s also fine for the ship to take a back seat to character development.

Optional Prompts

  • We’ve heard the story of what happened between Blake and Travis, but we only hear the latter half of it through Blake’s somewhat compromised memories. What if it didn’t happen quite the way Blake described?
  • Travis survives Star One and runs into Blake. Does Travis regret what he did or is he completely unrepentant? And considering the consequences of destroying Star One, it’s not like Blake is entirely comfortable on the moral high ground. Perhaps there’s an external conflict that forces them to work together and not just kill each other there and then, but I’d also be willing to just seen them both too tired and broken to fight and so calling a truce of a kind just for one night.
  • Smut (although character development would be welcome here too) – It occurs to Travis, possibly at Servalan’s urging, that he might be able to use the clone to work out his issues with Blake. Maybe Servalan acts as a third party directing the two of them, and rather enjoying Travis’s shame at enjoying it so much (he was so broken in that episode), or else a hundred petty little moments of cruelty escalate into extremely dubconny sex.
  • Blake ends up brainwashed again and an extremely resentful Travis is set as his guard dog with explicit instructions not to harm him and the ability to erase Blake’s memories if he thinks Blake is starting to suspect something is wrong. It’s not like he was planning on taking advantage of the situation, but it just sort of happened that way. Bonus points if Blake starts growing on him despite Travis’s best efforts.
  • They get stuck in a time loop, (some kind of simulation, perhaps?) and the only way out of the time loop is for them to work together to get them both out of the situation in one piece or, uh, possibly for them to fuck.

Art Likes

I love the look of this series so, so much: the gloriously wonky BBC special effects, and the clothes – oh god, the clothes - so anything like that which can be incorporated will be appreciated, and I am here for pure unadulterated costume porn, especially if Servalan is involved.

I'd just love to see Servalan and Travis interacting. Looks-wise I have a slight preference for Travis I (that metal plate!) or outlaw!Travis II (his scruffy hair! That beard!), and the visual contrast between her white flowing dresses and his black leather uniform. Sexually explicit, or just Servalan being Servalan, flirting with her hand on his chest while he’s trying to stay stony-faced (Servalan stroking his chest is life. The tunnels under Aristo. The sex swing. Costume porn. Antagonism. Him choking her. Her slapping him. Servalan domming the fuck out of him. The two of them ruling the universe side by side as the most terrifying power couple of all time. Bonus points if you can get him looking just the tiniest bit vulnerable, especially if he’s trying to look anything but.

Blake and Travis – Ohhhh boy, the LOOK of these two together, and again I have the same slight preference for either Travis I or outlaw!Travis II. That scene from their backstory where Blake fires on Travis! Blake getting tortured. Somewhat dubiously consensual sexually explicit fanart (sex pollen, or use of aphrodisiacs?). Travis burying his fingers in Blake’s hair and jerking his head back. A post-coital scene where they’re either sated and exhausted and it’s only just beginning to dawn on them what a terrible idea that was, or where that has already become very clear indeed. A moment where they have to work together. Blake having Travis at his mercy and deciding – again! – to spare him. Them drinking together in a bar as part of that Travis survives Star One AU. Evil or brainwashed!Blake working alongside Travis.

Oh god oh god oh god. Right. Sometimes you just come across one of those shows that you absolutely love to bits, which are basically so perfect that they had to be made for you. For me, this is one of those shows. I love it. I love it so much that I'm actually flailing the tiniest little bit at how much I love it. For a start, it's gorgeous. I love the visuals, the scenery porn, the ambiguous supernatural themes and how they veeeery gradually get less ambiguous over the course of the series, the weirdly janky but sort of perfect way the music in the opening credits fits with the tone, the creepy fucking visuals of the druids. And the way the Romans react to this vision of Britain too, as this eerie shifting landscape of ghosts and curses and magic. The characters: I love them all. I love everything about it. There isn't a single character or aspect of the show which I wouldn't love to see explored in more detail.

Season 3 is dropping in August, and I will be watching it, but it’s fine to just have watched the first two seasons (and I’m fine with canon divergence from any point).

As always, I'd love to see character studies, scenery porn, elements of horror, creepy ambiguity, smut, complicated questions of loyalty and betrayal, canon-divergences, Bad Guys Win!AUs… Seriously, I want everything.

I mean, I knew right from the first moment that Aulus was going to be a favourite of mine because I am horribly predicable, but Lucius is fast becoming one of my favourites too, especially given his relationship with Aulus, how long they've known and fought alongside each other, his gradual growing unease as he begins to realise something's not right and everything that happens over the course of the show and his guilt and search for redemption. Show me something from after he deserts, part of his struggle to come to terms with all the terrible things he’s done… Anything.

And Aulus, Christ, Aulus. I'd love to see him explored. Is he inherently a demon, or is he like Divis in that he's just possessed and the real man is in there somewhere? How long has he been possessed, and at what point did the demon begin to take over?

If you want to write about both of them, I'd love to see their relationship and their shared history explored -- we get some hints of the campaigns they've fought together in the past (that story about their time in Egypt *shiver*). It’s just the way their relationship is presented in the first season show in general: the shared history, the loyalty kink, the fact that they're both ruthless, brutal men, who end up being changed by the place around them, and the question of how much of Lucius's behaviour happens of his own volition. (I also ship them, so if you want to go there, then please do :D).

Optional Prompts

  • Alternate Universe - Bad Guys Win - One thing I love about this series is how completely it's left me guessing. What exactly is Aulus's plan? What would a world where he's won look like and how does Lucius fit into that world? Is there any humanity left in Aulus? Show me Lucius failing Cait, or confronting Aulus in a hopeless last stand.
  • Character's enemy is the only one who understands them - Anything exploring the relationship between Aulus and Lucius, whether you treat it as gen or something more. Explore that weird place between betrayal and loyalty, and I'm especially fascinated by the way the show treats free will. It often isn't clear whether characters are acting under their own volition, and this is especially true of Lucius towards the end of the first season. Does he consider going back? Does he come into contact with the druids?
  • Dreams bleeding into reality - Perhaps he comes down with a fever. Is Aulus fucking with him (or just fucking him) through his dreams or is he just dreaming? Is there part of him that desperately wants to go back?
  • Explore the backstory and shared history between Aulus and Lucius. When did they first meet? What was the outcome of what happened at Golgotha, or on any number of the campaigns they’ve fought together, whether it’s set in the past or Lucius being tormented by memories/hallucinations of everything he’s done.
  • And speaking of everything Lucius has done, was it in service for Rome or in service for Aulus? Explore his motivations for the betrayal, because that fascinates me. To what extent was he influenced by the druids and/or Aulus? Was there a moment when he realised that every terrible thing he’d done in Rome’s name had really been for Aulus, and to what extent was he aware of that while he was doing it?
  • I ship Lucius with Queen Antedia pretty damn hard and did right from the moment she called him Pretty Boy (and I am DELIGHTED that it looks like she’s coming back for season 3). So that. Give me some femdommy smut, or something more serious where he winds up at her camp after his desertion. Does he try to tell her not to trust Aulus?
  • More magic. More Aulus and the druids. More horror.

Optional Art Prompts

I mean… look at them. XD I really like the look of the Roman armour, and the visuals of the show as a whole. The druids, the stylised dream sequences, and the creepy elements of horror. A scene from their shared history, Lucius struggling with his burgeoning conscience after Golgotha, with Aulus ‘helping’ him through it. The spear? The hints of Lokka lurking in the shadows. Maybe something going heavy with light and shadow with Lokka lurking in the shadows and some hint of Cait in the light?

Doctor Who (1963)

Requested Ships: Jo Grant/The Third Doctor
Vislor Turlough/Tegan Jovanka
Peri Brown/Sixth Doctor Requested Mediums: Fic

*On the subject of my infidelity DNW, if it comes to it (e.g. for anything more than unrequited or unrealised pining), then either disregard Clifford Jones or have them be separated UNLESS you choose to indulge my ridiculous 'Clifford Jones is actually the Doctor' headcanon, in which case anything goes.

~~

Jo Grant/The Third Doctor

”Jo, you've got all the time in the world, and all the space. I'm offering them to you.” *hearteyes*

I was already kind of shipping them because I am a sucker for hand-holding and they are always holding hands or hugging, but then I skipped ahead to The Green Death and oh my fucking god. I can’t see that speech at the beginning with the Doctor offering her the universe as anything but a love confession. It’s not just the words, but his delivery, which is ridiculously solemn given that he’s just giving her the choice of which shithole planet she wants to fail to get to. And she says no! And then the end of the story where he says goodbye to her and gives her the sapphire from Metebelis 3 as a wedding present (the way their hands touch!) and then she looks back at him as he slips out of the celebrations. Uh, which is to say that The Green Death got me from kind of shipping it to shipping it like burning.

Even if you set the ship aside, the Third Doctor and Jo are one of my favourite Doctor-Companion combinations. I absolutely fucking love the Pertwee years, and I love Jo so much: even back when Dr Who wasn’t on TV I had a battered novelisation of The Daemons that I read to death… (and rewatching it recently I’ve realised that may well be the source of my love for the trapped-in-a-creepy-village trope. The bit in Time Monster where the Master calls the Doctor's bluff and the Doctor can't bring himself to sacrifice Jo, so she makes the decision to sacrifice the both of them. <3<3<3 She’s tougher than she looks and she’s adaptable, but she’s still so vulnerable at times, and he’s so protective of her – all the putting his arm round her, and her flinging herself into his arms and being willing to sacrifice herself for him, him going in to kiss the top of her head… Yeah, I ship them hard.

Set it during canon or alternatively years late when Jo is older and wiser. I’m not really familiar with what the extended media has Jo doing after she leaves the show, so you’ve got an open book there as far as I’m concerned and I’m not bothered about spoilers for other media. Follow that canon or disregard it entirely: it’s up to you. The same goes for the fate of UNIT.

Regarding Clifford Jones, I happen to have a completely unsubstantiated headcanon that he's a previously unmet regeneration of the Doctor under the influence of the Chameleon Arch (perhaps one prior to Three who’s been forgotten about for some reason). It all kind of fits – his eccentricity, his name, his research being, according to the Doctor, remarkable for the age he lives in. Alternatively, I’m fine with him being ignored completely or for him and Jo to have gone on to divorce further down the line.

Optional Prompts

  • Remember my headcanon about Clifford Jones? Well, after Jo’s marriage, the Doctor is distracted by inconvenient memories of her, memories which shouldn’t belong to him at all.
  • Years after her marriage to Clifford breaks up, Jo finds herself meeting the Third Doctor again. A time paradox at Llanfairfach? The Master?
  • Something ridiculously tropey – there’s only one bed, or they arrive on a planet where they’re forced to pose as husband and wife. Or, my favourite, trapped in a cupboard and hiding from monsters.
  • Explore the shift in their relationship. Why did the Doctor go from not giving a damn about her flirtation with the Peladon to being so protective of her over Clifford?
  • That speech the Doctor gave at the start of The Green Death: what would have happened if she’d agreed to go with him to Metebelis 3 (on the assumption that it would be a stop-off on the way to Llanfairfach).
  • Undercover - Undercover as a Couple brings out Feelings - On arriving on a planet, the Doctor and Jo attempt to blend in (Curse of Peladon-style) by pretending to a pair of expected visiting government officials. Unfortunately, those government officials are actually husband and wife and events -- mysterious murders? -- mean they have to pretend to be married so as not to draw suspicion to themselves, and they find themselves enjoying the act. Or maybe they stage a breakup but the act of arguing actually draws them closer together.
  • Oh No We Have to Get Married For .... Political Reasons Yeah That's It - Accidental marriage. <3<3<3 I have no idea how this could come about... maybe a planet where marriage is a requirement and so Jo insists on marrying the Doctor to save his life, and then it proves not to be quite so easy to annul as they'd anticipated.
  • outsider pov - One of the things I really love about the Pertwee-era is how different the Doctor's manner was with Liz and Jo and it would be fantastic to see Jo's relationship with the Doctor explored through her bonding with Liz. Maybe it just started with Jo seeking out advice for how to work with the Doctor, and then it gradually becomes clear to Liz that Jo is falling in love with him.
  • Slow Burn - Soulbonding is the only way for A to save seriously injured B's life - God, I love this concept so much. I could see this working with either character in the life-saving role. All the angst and guilt and anger, whether the anger is directed at the other character or that the other character had to be put in that position, or a messy mixture of both. <3
  • Characters Stranded Without Any Other People For Decades - And another concept that's pure id. <3<3<3 Are they stranded for real, and is it permanent, or are they rescued at the end? And if/when Jo dies, will that mean the Doctor has to go on alone? Or, alternatively, is it an implanted memory situation or kind of simulation, with them living out the course of decades over a much shorter period of time, but it's no less real for that? Do they both live through it, or is it just one of them (Jo for preference if only one of them lives it.) (Struck through because I’m working on a version of this myself, but please don’t let that stop you from using this prompt if it appeals. I’d love to see your version.)

Tegan Jovanka/Vislor Turlough

The more I watched the harder I shipped them. Turlough is one of my favourite companions, mainly because of the way he was introduced and what a delightfully amoral little shit he is, and how he goes from that point to actually being pretty damn brave. His relationship with Tegan reflects that too, how at first she wouldn’t trust him as far as she could throw him to me getting the feeling that there really was something going on between them, or that at least Turlough wanted there to be – the way he looks at her when they’re reunited in Resurrection of the Daleks, for example. It’s all pretty damn dark in a way that really appeals to me.

Tegan is not in a good place at this point, what with Adric’s death (and his being replaced with Turlough, who is, let’s face it, a shifty little fucker, at least at first), and Nyssa’s departure (I ship Tegan/Nyssa too btw), and the general gloomy hopelessness and depressing atmosphere of some of those episodes, and the feeling that Tegan’s chasing something that she’s never going to get back, all the fun’s been sucked out of it, and the way she leaves, oh GOD – it’s heartbreaking and bleak and angsty in a way that is so completely up my street. Give me something that reflects that, OR alternatively something where they actually enjoy themselves for once.

Here for anything from one-sided unrequited pining to meaningless sex/friends-with-benefits, to Tegan drowning her pining for Nyssa/grief about Adric by having angsty sex with Turlough, to something sweeter with genuine feelings gradually beginning to evolve between them. Set it during their time travelling in the TARDIS, or have them reconnect later sometime after she’s left, or a canon-divergent fic where either she doesn’t leave the TARDIS at that point, or he stays around for a while, whether on purpose or accidentally. Or they’re stranded somewhere together. Also, er, turns out Turlough tied up and being menaced by a knife by a buxom pirate queen in Enlightenment is RTMI. Do with that what you will. XD

It’s not immediately clear how old Turlough actually is, btw, but with the whole alien thing I headcanon him as being over eighteen. There’s no need to mention that, but please don’t contradict it.

Optional Prompts

  • After the events of Terminus, in which Turlough spent most of his time trapped in a series of crawl spaces looking at Tegan’s backside, he develops an inconvenient crush on her.
  • Explore how Tegan goes from actively distrusting Turlough (probably for good reason, admittedly), to feeling like she can rely on him
  • From the pyrrhic victory of Warriors of the Deep to the Doctor almost taking on the role of executioner in Resurrection of the Daleks, those last few episodes of Tegan’s run were bleak as fuck, and that’s not even counting Adric’s death and Nyssa’s departure (which might have been on her terms, but was still pretty grim). Dig into all the angst and give me some hurt/comfort and/or comfort sex, whether it’s just sex or leads to actual feelings.
  • Sex pollen leads to mutually dubiously consensual of the enabling kind, and/or its awkward aftermath.
  • They’re separated from the Doctor and end up stranded somewhere together for a lengthy period of time, which brings them together. Are they somewhere relatively safe, or in an isolated wilderness where they have to struggle to survive?
  • Some time after the Doctor and Turlough leave Tegan on Earth, she meets up with Turlough again.
  • Or go with something tropy: undercover as a couple, or they have to attend a masked ball.
  • Smut – Poor Turlough gets himself tied up again. Tegan rescues him, but they get a little bit distracted.
  • A slice of everyday life in the TARDIS, one of those moments when things are just normalish for once. Smut, angst, or quiet hurt/comfort and grief. Maybe Tegan sees the changes Turlough’s made to Adric’s old room.

Peri Brown/Sixth Doctor

First, a heads up that I haven’t seen the Sixth Doctor’s full run yet, but I will have done by the end of reveals (so please don’t worry about spoilers). Unfortunately it makes prompting a little bit trickier, but hopefully you can get some ideas from what I am able to write and my general likes.

Somehow, I have managed to go my entire life of being a Dr Who fan without having seen a single Colin Baker episode. Turns out season 22 is the most fun I’ve had watching Dr Who since Three & Jo’s run. So far I adore Six as the Doctor, love him and Peri together, and thoroughly appreciate the darker edge to the character (a fucking acid bath? God, Vengeance on Varos was glorious from start to finish). I love the way he bickers with Peri, his terrible jokes, even the coat… And that regeneration scene, damn. There’s a moment after he tries to kill her in his fit of mania when he realises she’s terrified of him, and I love that moment so damn much, the utter bewilderment in his voice. He’s the Doctor – innocent young women aren’t supposed to be scared of him, and yet...

Shipwise, I love the bickering, the way he keeps putting his arm around her, (I’m a simple girl – gestures of affection like that get me every time). I’m also really drawn to the… oddness of this ship, which doesn’t strike me as an obvious ship in the way Three/Jo does (although YMMV, obviously :D), but I really love the idea of them being drawn together despite everything – despite the bickering and the rocky start and his fashion sense and the sheer weirdness of how the whole situation must have felt for Peri, going from Five (who she called sweet!) to Six, who almost immediately tried to kill her (especially since that came straight after everything that happened with Sharaz Jek). But she’s tough and she sticks things out, even when she isn’t feeling entirely courageous, and I really like the way they sometimes each have to encourage the other to get involved. I like that this Doctor is dangerous, I like that he’s more violent than he usually is and more inclined to kill to solve his problems. And I also like the trust that develops between them despite the rocky start to their travelling together.

Delve into the weirdness of this ship, Peri telling herself she absolutely definitely isn’t attracted to this Doctor (and if you want to explore the potential weirdness of her having first been attracted to the Fifth Doctor first, only to then be confronted by this guy, then do), except, oh wait, actually she kind of sort of is. Or give me a quieter moment between then, more hugging, all the goodnatured (ish) bickering, hurt/comfort with neither of them necessarily being comfortable about it… Whatever you come up with, I’m sure I will be delighted.

Optional Prompts

  • Oh no, he’s hot – Maybe there’s a moment while they were travelling together when the Doctor’s removed his coat, maybe rolled his sleeves up, or changed his clothes, and Peri realises to her quiet horror/astonishment that this version of the Doctor is, uh, pretty fucking sexy actually.
  • Undercover as a couple – For whatever reason, no matter how spurious, whether because they need to do it to protect Peri, or because they’re pretending to be other people who happen to be married, or because they’re investigating somewhere that requires them to be married. It doesn’t matter how spurious it is, just go all out on the tropeyness, especially if it’s combined with there only being one bed. And if no one believes they’re newly weds, because of all the bickering. An old married couple on the other hand...
  • Stranded together for a very long time – Look, I’m a sucker for characters being put in the position of being forced to rely on each other and being drawn together because of that. This is recycled from my Three/Jo request, and I’m fascinated by how differently Peri would react given how different her motivations are for travelling with the Doctor compared to Jo.
  • Sex pollen and its aftermath, where they’re either both equally affected or Peri is more affected than he is and he’s resisting but she can’t, and if they don’t have sex she’ll die. Please err on the pleasurable rather than traumatic side for Peri (awkwardness is fine though), but feel free to delve into his feelings of unease about losing control and what happened when he regenerated (and any residual guilt about not being able to protect her from Sharaz Jek). Or if you’d rather keep it lighter then go with the sex pollen making it easier for them to act on existing feelings, and acting as a catalyst to get them together (with an optional awkward ‘well that was weird’ aftermath)
  • As a semi-apology for being a dick about her American vernacular, the Doctor takes her to an important moment in American history, past or future.
  • They meet up with Turlough again, and while she’s reminiscing with him about the Fifth Doctor, Peri realises the Sixth Doctor isn’t that bad actually, or maybe getting to the point where she can reconcile the concept of the Doctor as being two different personalities but still the same person with Turlough’s help.
  • Just give me a quieter moment from their travels together.
  • Hurt/comfort – the Doctor is injured or sick and is refusing to cooperate with Peri’s attempts to care for him.
  • Huddling for warmth. Especially – especially – if it involves if it involves Peri wearing the Doctor’s coat.

Optional Art Prompts

I love the look of the series as a whole, and the differing styles of the various different eras, so anything that captures the look of the characters and canon will be appreciated. I particularly love it when Dr Who goes a bit darker and horror tinged, especially the folk horror elements that appear in the Third Doctor’s era. Folk Horror is basically catnip to me, so feel free to incorporate that (or any other kind of horror elements) however you want. I especially love the various costumes and clothing styles (and height differences).

For Jo and the Third Doctor, show me a moment of hurt/comfort or the two of them in captivity together, all the touchy feely hugs and other displays of affection. Give me something set on an alien planet or set during the UNIT years.

For Peri and the Sixth Doctor, the clooooothes. Oh god, the clothes. Or that huddling for warmth prompt where Peri wears the Doctor’s coat because she needs it more than he does. I also love the height difference, and every time the Doctor puts his arm around her shoulders.

For Tegan/Turlough, possibly something darker tinged, or which shows the course of their relationship from the early days when Tegan didn’t trust him to later on when they were closer? If you can capture the way Turlough looked at her when they’re reunited in Resurrection of the Daleks then I will be over the moon.

Elder Scrolls

Requested Ships: Tullius
Requested Medium: Art and Fic

Fandom-specific DNW: General Tullius/Legate Rikke, UNLESS you genderswap Tullius to female. In which case yes fucking please.

~~

Note: If you want to give him a first name and aren’t sure what to go with, then I headcanon it as being Reman, but please ignore this if you have another preference or if you’d prefer not to give him a first name.

I’m not sure who nominated this, but OMFG, thank you and I’m delighted you did. General Tullius is, and always has been, one of my favourite NPCs in Skyrim, and I’d be thrilled to receive a fic centred around him, whether it’s shippy or gen. I love that sarcastic, cynical, practical bastard, how he Gets Shit Done, and all the opportunities for competence porn, backstory and worldbuilding that his character offers. One thing I really like about his character is the way his attitude towards Skyrim has shifted towards the end, going from him being initially dismissive to having a genuine regard for the province and its people. I’m also a huge Oblivion fan, so references to that game and to Cyrodiil in general are always welcome.

I honestly would love to read anything centred around him, whether its set during the course of the game, explores his backstory, or follows through to see what happens after the events of Skyrim. And as always, I always love to receive canon divergent AUs. If you want to write about his backstory, what did he do during the war, what’s his background and family life like? Is he married, single, widowed? Or follow his life after the game – does he stay in Skyrim as he says he’s going to, or is he recalled to Cyrodiil after all (or sent elsewhere)? Or explore his relationship with any of the other characters or factions, such as Titus Mede or the tightrope he walks with the Thalmor. Alternatively, show me the events of the games through his eyes.

I want to stress that I would be thrilled with a gen fic, but if you want to go shippy, I ship him with a female Dragonborn pretty damn hard. For this pairing, what appeals to me is the dynamic of two older characters with plenty of history and experience, and who just might be starting to get a bit too old for this shit. Having said that, a younger Dragonborn offers up a lot of interesting possibilities too. This seems like a ship suited for introspection and quieter thoughtful moments (and I'd be thrilled with that), but I'd also love to see him taken out of his comfort zone, and being forced to survive away from the safety of Solitude and the Legion. Especially if it involves 'Thank god we're alive sex' by the side of a campfire. Alternatively, I’m also open to Tullius/Titus Mede and Tullis/Ulfric Stormcloak and in general you’ve got an open book as far as other pairings go.

For gen, I’d love to see something plotty, whether that plot focuses on politics or adventure, or alternatively a deep-dive into an indepth character study. What’s life like in the Legion? What other problems has he been sent to solve over the years? What’s his relationship like with the emperor? Seriously, anything.

Optional Prompts

  • Explore his backstory, what he did during the war, his family life and background, whether he’s married (or was married).
  • Post-canon fic about the consequences of the emperor’s death. What if the Dragonborn (potentially ex-Legion?) makes a play for the throne, would Tullius oppose or support them? Yes, there’s the oath, but if the emperor is dead and there’s the chance to put another Dragonborn emperor on the throne…
  • Show me his relationship with Ulfric Stormcloak. Did they know each other as younger men? Were they still rivals them, or friends/lovers? Maybe they have a moment on the neutral ground of High Hrothgar, or are ambushed by a dragon, snowed in somewhere and forced to rely on each other. I’m fine with character death, so don’t feel like you have to shy away from the consequences of the civil war, whichever side wins, or go with a canon divergent fic where the civil war is defused (like the Dragonborn making a bid for the throne and tearing up the White-Gold Concordat), which means they’re allied again. How do they adjust to that?
  • The eve of the battle for Windhelm (or Solitude -- who says the winning side has to be the one the player character picks?), and Tullius and the Dragonborn both might die tomorrow.
  • There's an awkward moment at the Thalmor embassy party.
  • Anything delving into the lore and history of Solitude or any of the quests revolving around the city, like the Potema questline or the Sheogorath quest.
  • The Dragonborn comes seeking revenge for what happened in Helgen.
  • The so-called Dragonborn isn't really the Dragonborn but a con-artist who gets caught up in the civil war.

Optional Art Prompts

Scenery porn, particularly of the frozen wastes around Solitude (or of Cyrodiil). I’d love to see some action, such as a fight with dragons, or a character study centred around his relationship with Skyrim with lots of introspection and internal dialogue. I would freaking love that, even if virtually no other characters appear and Skyrim itself takes the place of another character.

Kaldor City

Requested Ship: Kaston Iago/Kiy Uvanov
Kaston Iago & Kiy Uvanov
Requested Medium: Art and Fic

First off, I know what a ridiculous long shot this request is, but I have fallen desperately in love with just about everything relating to the setting of Kaldor City. Maybe it’s not such a surprise that I’d fall in love with the setting, since The Robots of Death, the Doctor Who episode which first introduced Kaldor City is basically And Then There Were None with killer robots (and look, if you’re not at all sure what to give me for this, then And Then There Were None with killer robots is a pretty damned good bet).

I originally picked this up because I’d heard it was a crossover between Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 and I was curious how that would work. Turns out I love it. I love everything about it. It’s clever, brutal, bleak (oh god so bleak) and really bloody funny. I especially love the way it links the two shows without ever quite feeling like either one. I love the setting, the class divide, the grittiness of the sewer pits, and the twenty founding families, and the idea of robophobia as this utterly crippling condition, and the worldbuilding that goes into what a civilisation reliant on robot technology would look like. I love the ambiguity, and the tonal shift over the course of the series too, the way it goes from a fast-paced techno-thriller to something altogether weirder and creepier as everything falls apart into bleakly awful cosmic horror.

Aaaand then there’s the characters. Uvanov is, without a doubt, one of my favourite characters in anything, ever. He’s a bastard, with the veeeery slightest little sliver of decency, but mainly he’s a devious, greedy, paranoid, amoral, social-climbing, murdering little shit. <3<3<3

And then there’s everything to do with Kaston Iago. It’s up to you whether or not you choose to write him as a post-Gauda-Prime Avon. Personally I don’t quite buy it: Avon’s a bastard, but he’s not quite that much of a bastard. I headcanon Iago as a clone instead, but either is fine, or alternatively have him be someone else entirely.

I love the way they bicker and manipulate each other (and each of them in turn being manipulated by Carnell – who is wonderful in this as well, fucking with virtually everyone behind the scenes and generally being delightfully smug. :D). And how reliant on Iago Uvanov becomes without ever quite trusting him, because he’s a paranoid bastard who doesn’t trust anyone, let alone his bodyguard/hired assassin. I'd love to see something of their relationship, whether it's gen focusing on the trust issues and manipulation, or if you ship them instead, however you choose to go about the ship, whether it's simply a convenient sexual arrangement for both of them or one or more of them catches feelings which he/they don't know what to do with because they're both such utter bastards.

Optional Prompts

  • Iago is a man of many skills. Why the hell did he decide working as Uvanov’s security consultant/hired assassin would be a good idea? And why did he come to Kaldor City in the first place?
  • Being Uvanov’s personal security consultant/hired assassin wasn’t supposed to involve sex, but since it’s not like Uvanov’s ever going to trust anyone else… (although its not like he really trusts Iago…)
  • Considering robots aren’t supposed to be able to kill, they do seem to go on killing sprees on the regular. In Robots of Death the Doctor suggested that if it ever got out it might be the end of their civilisation, so what are the consequences of the latest robot killing spree which can’t be explained away as the fault of ore raiders?
  • We never actually get to see a post-apocalyptic Kaldor City, or ever even find out if it actually happened, so that would be fun to explore, whether it’s the result of what happens in canon or something more prosaic, like panic after the robot uprising.
  • Look, if all else fails, I will always love a murder mystery, or another version of And Then There Were None, with or without killer robots.

Optional Art Prompts

The original set and costume design in The Robots of Death was so gorgeous – those ridiculously opulent clothes and the stylised robots, and the way the setting and design were used to develop the worldbuilding, and I’d love to see that extrapolated to Kaldor City itself, that bleak cityscape of urban decay contrasted with the world of luxury Iago and Uvanov mostly move in. Oh, and skulls.

The Professionals

Requested Ships: William Bodie/Ray Doyle
Requested Medium: Art and Fic

Another new to me canon that I have absolutely fallen in love with. I haven’t watched the whole series yet, so apologies if that makes prompting a little tricky and please don’t worry about spoilers. By the time reveals roll around, I absolutely will have finished. If in doubt, give me something in line with canon and I’m sure I will be thrilled.

It’s just so much damn fun to watch. I love the insight into seventies Britain (and I’m very much here for period detail if that’s your thing, but don’t worry if it’s not), and could spend forever watching the dynamic between the three of them, the banter, the jokes, the friendly rivalry, the way their different backgrounds give them different insights and skills, and the vibe I get that Cowley (who I fucking adore) is actually harder than Bodie and Doyle put together, despite his age and gammy leg. So damn here for that. XD I love the way it subverts expectations too – all the literary references in particular.

Shipwise, explore the mutual codependence that comes as a result of working in close confines in a way that may not be entirely healthy, the tedium of surveillance, working and training together, working late and falling asleep at your desk. Anything goes from explicit smut to pining (mutual or otherwise), and including canon-style relationships with women is fine too. Maybe they come to the realisation that while women come and go, their relationship remains immutable.

Give me canon style casefic or something that takes them out of their comfort zones, backstory for either one of them, or post-canon fic.

Optional Prompts

  • Casefic, or elements from a partially realised casefic, whether canon-typical or something which takes them out of their comfort zones.
  • 5 + 1 ways of livening up surveillance detail.
  • Training together leads to sexual tension leans to sex.
  • Bonding in captivity – whether as a result of trauma and torture, or being imprisoned together somewhere dark and claustrophiobic.
  • They’re revisited by someone from the past.
  • The ridiculous Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) AU, where one half of the pairing is a ghost the other can’t see.
  • Time Loop – where the event that triggers the loop is the other one’s death.
  • If they do get together, how does it happen? How do they come to realise they have feelings for the other? When it starts is it just about sex, or is the sexual attraction develop out of a result of their bond?

Optional Art Prompts

I’d love to see something which captures the tone of canon here, guns and fight scenes, possibly focusing on them, the way they work together, their banter and general dynamic, with added shippiness, whether they’re in a relationship or pining (mutual or otherwise).

Sapphire and Steel

Requested Ships: Sapphire/Steel
Requested Mediums: Fic

~~

I watched this recently, and have fallen utterly, completely head-over-heels in love with it. It’s the weirdest fucking show, and I love that it makes absolutely no attempt to explain what the hell’s going on or who or what Sapphire and Steel are (or Silver and Lead for that matter). It’s basically made for me, the tone of it, the first two episodes with their quiet almost M.R Jamesian eerie ghost stories reconceptualised as kiiiiind of sci-fi with creepy cosmic horror elements, but they never move away from them as ghost stories. And then there’s the Fifth Assignment, The Dinner Party, which I am still delighted about, because if there’s one thing I love more than n eerie ghost story, it’s an And Then There Were None pastiche, and not only did I get that, it also happened to be combined with Undercover as a Couple. I’m still a little dazed that that happened. :D And then there’s that incredibly bleak ending, and the idea of Sapphire and Steel trapped together in a greasy spoon floating in the middle of nowhere forever.

I ship them so damn hard. I love the contrast between them, Sapphire so serene and composed while Steel is so tightly wound and intense (and this is the goofiest damn thing to fixate on, but I have a bit of a thing about the way he goes up and down stairs. It’s ridiculous, I know, and yet...). What the hell are they? What the hell went on between Sapphire and Silver? What the hell is going on between Sapphire and Steel, for that matter? Are they beings who actually date, fall in love, fuck, or when they do – and I’m thinking about Sapphire and Silver, here – are they just adopting human habits which aren’t inherent to their real natures at all?

I’m especially fascinated by Steel, since while I could believe Sapphire used to be human, I don’t for a second buy that about him. He’s a fascinating character, and one thing I’ve loved is seeing the way he seems to shift over the course of the series, how different he is in The Dinner Party when he’s actually making the effort to pass for a human being. I need (and want) to go back to the beginning and watch it all over again, but I got the impression in the early episodes that he cared about very little other than the assignments and Sapphire – his disregard for most of the human characters (like the moment when he’s talking with Tully and Sapphire contacts him and Tully is instantly forgotten and dismissed, and… well, poor Tully in general), his mannerisms, the odd little gestures of affection he makes towards Sapphire in the second assignment and how… veeery slightly off and experimental they feel, combined with his lack of comprehension of what love is and being unable to distinguish being in love with someone from using them… Damn.

I’d love to see anything that explores that inhumanity. One thing I loved about the Dinner party assignment is the suggestion that their Miles and Veronica personas somehow took on lives of their own. It struck me that he seemed more human/humane in the last assignment – he actually seemed more protective than usual about what happened to the woman – so I kind of headcanoned that as a lingering after-effect of the Miles persona. What happens if that effect starts to wear off and he starts getting less human again? What happens if Miles and Veronica are actually called into existence as real separate people?

But on top of that I also love the moments of humour you get with Steel (even though, or perhaps because of, the way they emphasise his inhumanity) – his occasional jokes that you can’t tell are jokes (“You can’t trust the transuranics – they’re unstable”), or the moment in The Dinner Party when he forgets his name, or his complete incomprehension over bridge or which way to pass the port…

Alternatively, I am so, so here for fucked up bad endings. Follow up on the bleak way the series ends. What do they do together for the rest of eternity stuck in that miserable little greasy spoon? Or give me a horror, whether more outright horror the more understated canon-style ghost stories, or something closer to canon. One thing I loved about the various assignments was the way they impacted on the various guest stars, so if you want to explore how they’re affected afterwards, please do. Or explore the cosmic horror elements of canon, the creatures moving against them, the transient life forms… and what the hell are the transuranics, anyway?

Optional Prompts

  • A forced to choose between B and the greater good - chooses B even though it's not what B wants - I could see either character taking either role and sacrificing everything to save the other character. I am totally here for their loyalties to each other being pushed to extremes, whether it’s Steel who gets to the point where Sapphire’s well-being is more important to him than the assignment, or Steel expecting Sapphire to sacrifice him and his fury when she doesn’t.
  • A goes evil & can't be cured/contained; B stays with them as they wreak havoc instead of killing them - More loyalty kink. I was specifically thinking about Steel here (although again, reversing the roles could work too). I’d love to see their loyalty to each other and their dedication to the job explored. Which is more important? How much are they each willing to sacrifice for the good of the other? And how much do they really care about human beings anyway?
  • Look how much better off I am without you; I do not miss you or even think about you (I am lying) - For one reason or another, Sapphire and Steel’s partnership is broken up. Or they have an affair and it does not work out. Steel’s fine with that. Except he really fucking isn’t.
  • Just give me a canon-style ghost story and I will be so damn happy. Or more Undercover as a Couple, which was one of the most delightful moments.
  • I LOVE time loops, and they seem like the perfect trope for this canon. Maybe with every loop the beings outside time encroach more on the present and reality starts to decay more and more. Are they both stuck in the loop, or just one of them? Or are they both stuck in their own personal loop and are left unable to communicate with one another? Or maybe they figure out a way, but every time they use it reality decays a little more.
  • Stranded alone together for a very long time - I have no words for how much I love the bleakness of the canon ending and the idea of them both being trapped together potentially for eternity. Do they age at all? Are the transient beings still fucking with them or have they been completely abandoned? What happened to Silver?
  • Having to destroy the happily married doppelgangers you accidentally created - The Dinner Party was a favourite of mine, and I love the idea that their Undercover as a Couple routine actually called Miles and Veronica Cavendish into being as a Tommy-and-Tuppence style married couple who trip around the 1930s (or the 80s) solving murders whilst being desperately, ecstatically in love. Which would be lovely except that their very existence is damaging the fabric of time. Possibly an outsider POV from either Miles or Veronica, and going hard on the horror of the sudden appearance of a pair of doppelgangers who insist that you have to die (and Steel’s realisation that that is what love is meant to be like and which he will almost certainly never experience).
  • Non-human character seems less human with every passing day - Oh god, I am so here for this with Steel. Whether because it’s because the Miles Cavendish effect is wearing off, or because he attempt at a human love affair has broken his heart so he retreats from human emotions because they hurt too much, or because an eternity stranded has resulted in him gradually losing his mind.
  • Something where for one reason or another they’re forced to work against each other. Or an alternative universe where one of them did take the job offered to them mentioned in the final assignment.
  • The mention of the Marie Celeste in the first assignment suggests they don’t necessarily deal with their cases in chronological order. They deal with a case from another time period.
  • Sex, whether explicit or otherwise. How does it work between them?

Optional Art Prompts

Art-wise, I would absolutely love something that captures the atmosphere of canon, or which bumps up the horror elements. And them, just the two of them, the way they stand so close together – which, yes, shippy, but also a little eerie at the same time because of the lack of personal space. The way they touch each other, all those little moments where they hold hands, or Steel kisses her on her cheek or her hand. Ghosts, bannisters, non-Euclidean impossible spaces. Sapphire being serene and elegant with Steel so tense he’s practically vibrating. And, um, I know this is ridiculous, but I have a bit of a thing about the way Steel goes up and down stairs, so I will be over the moon with anything that incorporates staircases, however you choose to interpret that. XD

Survivors

Requested Ships: Jenny Richards/Greg Preston,
Jenny Richards/Greg Preston/Abby Grant
Requested Medium: Fic

Please note that so far I’ve only finished the first series, but by reveals I will have finished the entire show (so please don’t worry about spoilers). I’d also be happy with a canon divergent fic set during or after the first season, which disregards the following seasons.

So far, in my quest for the grimmest piece of seventies British sci-fi, Survivors is winning hands down. XD It is incredibly bleak, but also brilliant, and one of the very few things which has me completely enthralled. It’s one of the tensest shows I’ve ever seen, and astonishingly good, grim as it is. And at its heart (of the first season, at least) are three of my favourite characters in anything ever: Greg, Abby and Jenny. Oh god, I adore them all so much, and love them for how thoroughly flawed they all are, especially Greg.

It absolutely smashes the Bechdel Test. At one point four female characters stand around discussing a fifth, and I love that Abby is the accepted leader of the group, and that her being a mother and her search for her son doesn’t dominate her arc. I also really likes how the show deals with trauma and grief, this quiet undercurrent that runs throughout, set aside while people are trying to get on with life, and how relatively small the stakes are in some of the episodes.

I really like the way the relationship between Jenny and Greg develops on the show, the way it just sort of happens organically, partly out of attraction, partly as a kind of shield against the world. I also love Jenny’s friendship with Abby too, and ship them pretty damn hard too. I’d love to see the OT3 come about in a similar way to Jenny’s relationship with Greg, growing organically out of the situation, maybe with Jenny attracted to both of them and the other leg of the OT3, Abby and Greg forming as a result. Or keep it v-shaped, if you’d prefer. I’m very much drawn to relationships that form out of necessity but which gradually grow and deepen as time moves on. I’m also fine with the ships taking a back seat to the plot, and it being treated as gen – I love this show to bits, would be delighted to see more fanfiction for it, so anything you do, I’m sure I’ll be thrilled with.

Optional Prompts

  • A missing scene from Jenny and Greg’s relationship filling in the bits it didn’t show. Like in the episode Gone to the Angels, when it goes from Greg outright stating that they’re together to them being in bed together. What happened in the interim? He’s pretty obviously trying to protect her and it’s entirely understandable under the circumstances, but it does smack a bit of chauvinism and him riding rough-shod over her opinions. So what happened in between? Did they argue about it? Was she angry, annoyed, relieved?
  • I don’t often request slice-of-life, but I’m requesting it here, whenever it’s set, whether during the early days or when they reach the Grange, or post-series one. I love the way the group grows up around that little kernel of three, Abby, Jenny and Greg, and how they’re the heart of their community. So just that really, moments from their lives and just general small scale practicalities of their lives, trying to get hold of farm animals, another dog to breed with Ben, looking after the kids...
  • Or go all out on the horrors of the apocalypse. One thing I really love about the series is how rubbish everything is (seventies Britain in a nutshell), and how it contrasts with other post-apocalyptic dramas I’ve seen – so far in Survivors even the antagonistic groups are frankly a bit crap, and all the more frightening for how real they are. But there will be some genuinely dangerous people who aren’t completely incompetent, surely?

Optional Art Prompts

One of the things I love about this series (the opening season anyway), is the way it captures rural Britain in the seventies (although it probably isn’t all that different now), and the turn of the season from winter to spring. Everything’s a bit rubbish and wet and muddy, all the battered Land Rovers and the houses, from shabby country cottages to gorgeous country estates. I’d love to see something that captures that, day to day life in the apocalypse, or alternatively which focuses on the horrors of the apocalypse, the spread of disease (whether typhoid or the flu itself), houses with corpses rotting in the bedrooms, feral dogs and cats, the strung up bodies of looters… Or focus on the core relationship of the requested characters and the group that builds up around them. Or show civilisation decaying as nature takes over. Action is always welcome, but I’d love to see something quieter too.

Crossovers

Requested Ships: Ducky Mallard (NCIS)/Fleur Perkins (Midsomer Murders)
William Bodie & Ray Doyle (The Professionals) & Third Doctor & Jo Grant (Dr Who 1963)
Bayban (Blake's 7) & Sixth Doctor & Peri Brown (Dr Who)
Requested Medium: Art and Fic

Ducky Mallard (NCIS)/Fleur Perkins (Midsomer Murder)

Yes, this is potentially ridiculously cracky, but oh my god, I want this ship to exist so much. It hit me hard while I was thinking about ships for Silver Streak (starting as a potential crossover gen request for George Bullard & Ducky, and then had a full body 'Oh shit, FLEUR moment. It sadly came too late for me to nominate them for that exchange, but I am desperate for this to exist.

They're both extremely long-running series, but if it helps at all, I’m only working my way slowly through the early seasons of NCIS, and I think it’s unlikely that I’ll get any further than the first couple of seasons before reveals, and Fleur only appears in Midsomer Murders from season 20 onwards. I don’t mind spoilers for the overall storyline/additional characters of NCIS, and feel free to do whatever you need to to fudge the timelines of the shows to make them line up, as well as handwavy fudging of procedures and the law. Look, just do whatever you need to do to get these characters to kiss (or do a flirty post-mortem together), and I will love you forever.

First off, it’s not nearly as cracky as it sounds. They’re both of a similar-ish age, in the same profession, and it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that their lives have crossed in the past. I love them both. Fleur is one of the best things to have come out of the later seasons of Midsomer Murders – a woman in her sixties/seventies leading an active sex life, manipulating John into doing her flat-pack and generally being sarcastic, oh hell fucking YES, and god I adore her – and Ducky (and his adorable working relationship with Abby) is also one of my favourite things about NCIS. I could listen to him waffle on at a tangent for ever, and 'I can't wait to weigh your liver' is one of my favourite lines in anything, ever. <3<3<3

How you handle the crossover is up to you. Setting it in the Midsomer Murders world seems much simpler (an annual conference of coroners taking place in a village in Midsomer because no one bothered to point out the ludicrously high death rate and ask if if it's really a good idea? Checks out). But going the other way and setting it on the NCIS side is welcome too, and actually I would pay good money to see Fleur taking no shit from Gibbs, and seeing the NCIS team in general reacting to the weirdness of Midsomer – her first big case in Midsomer was a man boiled to death in beer, for god’s sake, which leads me on quite neatly to how much I love Midsomer Murders, because I love this show beyond reason and have done for a very long time.

The ludicrously high death rate! The ridiculous murder methods! The backstabbing and simmering tension going on in these little village communities! The gorgeous settings alongside all the death and misery! Bake sales and pubs and property porn and village fetes alongside incest and murder! It’s all so delightfully silly and fun and gruesome, and while it’s absolutely fine to play it straight, I am also here for there being something more going on, and there being a supernatural or cosmic horror reason behind the high death rate, whether subtle or not. I love the idea of Midsomer being this notorious murder black spot (or hell mouth), and potentially a sought after post for coroners because if nothing else your life will never be boring.

Shipwise, I’m not sure I want anything specific beyond smushing them together and making them kiss. Maybe they’ve had a fling in the past and reconnect, whether in America or the UK (Midsomer or elsewhere). I would absolutely love some bonding over their work, some friendly rivalry over the weirdest murders they’ve had to deal with. Or for some convoluted and probably hand-wavy reason NCIS and the Causton constabulary have to collaborate on a case. I am so freaking here for casefic (even just a scene from a casefic, or a brief overview of all the gloriously ridiculous details of a case they’ve had to deal with, rather than a fully realised casefic), or just have them working together on a post-mortem – do they work well together or is there a little bit of rivalry there? And if you can make that post-morten flirty somehow, then please do!

For once, I’d prefer no unrequited one-sided pining, although mutual pining because neither one of them is prepared to give up their current job is welcome, as are bittersweet endings generally. Heavy angst of the ‘oh shit the world is ending’ kind is fine, so long as they’re facing it together at the end. :D Overall, I’d love to see the pairing treated as sweet (even if the world itself is literally ending), and while I’m not specifically looking for smut for this pairing, I love the idea of them both being sexually active despite their ages, so if you want to go there, then please do.

Optional Prompts

  • Ducky and Fleur reconnect somewhere out of Midsomer (whether in London or Washington). What happened in the past? Do they fall back in love? Is either of them tempted to give up their jobs to be with the other (any answer is fine here)? Or do they decide to try a long-distance relationship? Or, if you want to go a bit more supernatural, is there something about Midsomer County which stops you noticing how fucking weird the place is while you’re there but which wears off the further away you are? If it wears off, how would she feel about going back in?
  • An epistolary fic where they write to each other, swapping the weird little details of all the cases they’re on.
  • Ducky and Fleur try their hands at a long-distance romance.
  • They meet at a conference for coroners held at a hotel in one of the villages in Midsomer. Presumably because the hotel was going cheap (due to all the murders that happened at the last conference held there?) or because of the convenient availability of weird case studies. Or because coroners are just fascinated with the place and the position of resident pathologist is hotly sought after. Then someone starts killing them, because this is fucking Midsomer, damnit.
  • I don’t care about the details – just give me them collaborating on an autopsy and being generally impressed wit the other. Flirty or slightly competitive, or competitive in a flirty way?
  • Pure slice-of-life plotless fluff. Look, I don’t care about the details (although a hint of a murder case going on in the background will always be welcome). I just love the world of Midsomer itself, the village greens and the pubs and the weird simmering tension. Just give me them meeting and having a fling while all the usual Midsomer stuff is going on in the background.
  • NCIS and Causton CID have to collaborate on a case. Yeah, I have no idea either, but feel free to fudge procedure however you need to. Maybe the body of an American naval officer is found in one of the Midsomer villages but he was probably killed in the US? As with all my casefic suggestions, while I do love casefic, I am equally fine with the casefic aspects being treated purely as an excuse to set up the fic and get the characters together.
  • Always here for the Closed Circle set-up and isolated (and possibly haunted) hotels, especially in the middle of storms. Maybe the worst storm to hit the UK since ‘87 happens, the police are unable to get to them due to heavy flooding or snowstorms or whatever, and they’re isolated in a creepy hotel and having to deal with a murder without their usual resources.

Optional Art Prompts

Again, I don’t have many specific requests here other than ‘please smoosh them together and make them kiss’ and possibly ‘flirty autopsy’. I’d love to see a sweet moment between them, maybe them bonding over the weirdest cases they’ve ever had to deal with, or something incorporating one of the pretty villages of Midsomer. Or maybe something where everything looks normal at first glance, but then as you look closer, you start to realise something’s wrong, like them having a moment during an autopsy, while in the shadows in the background you can see some hint of cosmic horror (tentacles?).

William Bodie & Ray Doyle (The Professionals) & Third Doctor & Jo Grant (Dr Who 1963)

UNIT meets CI5. Look, I love both these shows and I’d love to see them smushed together and the characters interacting in each other’s worlds. Also, I adore the Third Doctor, and basically want to see everybody interacting with him. I’d love to see some worldbuilding here, looking at the way the two agencies interact. What are their general opinions of each other? Is it a case of inter-departmental cooperation or are they more used to being rival agencies?

I would be delighted with something gen and plotty, but if you want to write shipfic (or include some shipping elements), then you have an open book to do whatever you want. I ship both Three/Jo and Bodie/Doyle, but I’d also love to see it mixed up a bit, and the idea of Bodie and Doyle competing to flirt with Jo is the most delightful thing.

Do they work together or get in each other’s way, or get in each other’s way up until they start working together? Alien invasions, the Master getting up to his usual tricks…

  • A case that was assumed to come within CI5’s remit may have an extra-terrestrial element, so UNIT are called in to consult.
  • 5 + 1 fic – five times UNIT and CI5 got in each other’s way and the one time they didn’t.
  • Bodie and Doyle are assigned to protect the Doctor from assassination. The Doctor is suitably unimpressed (and how the hell does one keep a TARDIS under surveillance anyway?)
  • The Doctor and Jo are guests at a conference CI5 have been assigned to protect.

I’ve requested both these canons, so see those sections for specifics, but I’d love to see the individual looks of the two canons combined somehow, although they do already have a lot in common: they both deal with cars and action. In their own way.

Bayban (Blake's 7) & Sixth Doctor & Peri Brown (Dr Who)

Oh god. The idea of this crossover just delights me so much I can’t even say. Doctor Who is the perfect canon for crossovers, and there is already an official crossover around (Corpse Marker and Kaldor City, which both lead off from Robots of Death, one of my favourite serials of all time, and if you incorporate any of those or use Kaldor or a sand miner as a setting my little heart might actually explode in delight). I listened to Big Finish’s Bayban episode of the Avalon series recently, which has just got me hungry for more Bayban content. He’s a fantastic character, so utterly, gloriously bombastic and over the top, and I am so desperate for him and the Sixth Doctor to meet.

Is the resemblance remarked on? Is there a reason for it, or is it just coincidence (or the Doctor having encountered Bayban’s image and stored it subconsciously for a future regeneration)? Are they working against each other or does Bayban become a somewhat dangerous ally? Is seeing Bayban in his black leather the catalyst for Peri’s Oh No, He’s Hot moment about the Doctor? WHO KNOWS?

Whatever you need to do to make this happen, then please do it. I’d love to see something plotty, a heist, perhaps, or them being put in a situation where they have to work with Bayban against the Federation pre-The City at the Edge of the World. Or give me a canon-divergent AU where Bayban survives that episode, possibly because of the Doctor and Peri’s inadvertant interference. Or alternatively give me something set much earlier in the B7 universe, where they meet a younger Bayban and his terrifying mother. Or a semi-farce set on a space station where the Doctor and Bayban (so far unaware of the other’s existence) keep getting mistaken for each other.

  • Bodyswap bodyswap bodyswap. It’s entirely up to you how this happens (handwave whatever you need to or leave it entirely unexplained). What are the consequences of a human in a Gallifreyan body and vice versa? Do they have to pretend to be the other? Does Peri even realise anything’s wrong or does she chalk it up to the Doctor being weird again?
  • Peri gets separated from the Doctor and gets caught up with Bayban and his crew.
  • Bayban learns of the capabilities of the TARDIS and tries to extort the Doctor into helping with a heist.

I’d love to see something that goes all out on the contrast between Bayban and the Doctor, studded black leather vs that coat, XD. I’m also delighted by the idea of them having to impersonate each other, and feeling weird as fuck about it, so if you can capture that in your artwork, that would be amazing.

Thanks for reading!
